Wisconsin Singers Performances, Workshops and Outreach
Since 1967, Wisconsin Singers has been traveling to more than 35 communities annually, helping service organizations and music booster groups raise dollars through a family-friendly revue of American popular music. Featuring UW-Madison's most talented singers, dancers, instrumentalists and theater techs from a variety of majors across our campus, Singers also offers free workshops for area students while on site. These music clinics include a question and answer session that focuses on the importance of a college education. Wisconsin Singers has a full team of student interns who get hands-on experience in graphic arts, public relations, social media, marketing and business while networking on behalf of the UW.
Outcomes
Wisconsin Singers raises tens of thousands of dollars each year through show events for communities throughout the state and is oftentimes the only UW-Madison group to showcase the excellence of our campus in the places we perform. Our students are trained in leadership and communication skills and are called upon to articulate the Wisconsin Experience to host families, workshop students and audiences everywhere they tour. The Singers perform for more than 50,000 each year and teach more than 1,000 grade 6-12 students in free workshops. Student interns work closely with local event volunteers, assisting them with promotions, marketing and ticket sales and build partnerships that bring communities together to support the arts.
