Land’s End- Calculating a Carbon Footprint
Students were tasked with finding a way to measure the carbon footprint of products from Lands' End. A follow up question was asked on whether Lands’ End should market this data or keep it internal. Students researched the best method for measurement of carbon output and the scope of what to measure.
Outcomes
Students advised Lands' End to measure the carbon output data and keep it internally in order to identify problem areas. The students felt that because of a lack of a standard for this data it would be too difficult to get the data out to customers. If the data cannot change consumer behavior, the students felt that it would not be cost effective to advertise it.
