The Prints of Warrington Colescott: Sixty Years of Art & Satire
Since the 1940's, Wisconsin printmaker Warrington Colescott has trained his artistic eye on the fashions and foibles of human behavior. The University of Wisconsin Press and the Milwaukee Art Museum have collaborated to document the 60-year (and still going) artistic output of this UW-Madison professor emeritus of art. They have created a book of more than 354 Colescott prints that also documents his personal and artistic life and examines the evolution of his printmaking. A major Colescott exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum will run all summer of 2010.
Outcomes
The major exhibition of Warrington Colescott prints at the Milwaukee Art Museum in Summer 2010 will bring tourists and Wisconsin residents to Milwaukee and will contribute to the cultural life of the city. Publicity for the book and exhibit will work together to promote visitors in Milwaukee, as well as visitors to smaller exhibitions at galleries in Madison and Milwaukee.
