Center for Communication Research
The Center for Communication Research is dedicated to promoting communication research at the University of Wisconsin and beyond. It is committed to increasing general knowledge of communication processes and effects, applying communication expertise to the solution of society's problems, and communicating their findings to students, other researchers, policymakers, and the public at large. Problems addressed range from raising healthier children to helping older adults adjust to and benefit from new technologies; from making education more involving and more effective to improving the outcomes of group deliberations; and from enhancing public participation in democracy to understanding the role that new technologies play in the lives of adolescents. The results of the center's research are disseminated widely, and not just through traditional academic outlets. Its faculty and graduate students regularly give presentations to groups regionally, statewide, and nationally, and they also appear frequently in the local and national media.
Outcomes
Through theoretical and applied research, the Center advances understanding while solving real-world problems.
