The SRC Education and Outreach Group
The Synchrotron Radiation Center (SRC) Education and Outreach Group was established through the combined efforts of the National Science Foundation, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Scientific Community of Lightsource users. Each year the group coordinates two educational programs that seek to encourage aspiring science students from traditionally underrepresented groups to learn about the science of synchrotron light and physics. They also participate in a UW-Madison program that encourages kids to consider careers in engineering.
Outcomes
The SRC Education and Outreach Group is involved in the Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) at UW-Madison, as well as the SRC Research Experiences for Undergraduates (SRC-REU) program, the Students Performing Experiments Collaboratively Through Remote Access Program (SPECTRA), and the "Learning with Light" Science Teachers Workshop.
