Supernatural Presences in East Asian Culture
Part of the Year of Humanities, Supernatural Presences in East Asian Culture is a year-long series of interdisciplinary events exploring manifestations of the miraculous and the demonic in the cultures of Korea,Japan, and China. Events include a community reading group at the Madison Public Library, public lectures, and film screenings. The series of events culminates with ritual performances by Daoist masters of China. All events are open to the campus community as well as the general public.
Outcomes
Reading group sessions were held the second Thursday of every month at the Madison Public Library and public lectures/film screeings were held the fourth Thursday of every month at either the UW Humanities building or the Chazen Museum of Art. The performances by the Daoists were a great success and well-attended.
