Wisconsin Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit (WCWRU)
The US Geological Survey Wisconsin Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit (WCWRU) is one of two federal cooperative units in the state. The Cooperative Units bring federal resources to bear on research related to fish and wildlife resource management relevant to the state of Wisconsin. The major objectives of the WCWRU are to conduct and direct research, direct and guide the training of students in wildlife science, supply technical advice and assistance to Federal, State, and private conservation agencies in the management of wildlife reseources, and provide conservation education through publications, correspondence, lectures, and demonstrations.
Outcomes
Through the WCWRU, graduate students are mentored to be the next generation of scientists and leaders in natural resource conservation to benefit the state of Wisconsin. The Unit is one of 40 similar cooperative Fish and Wildlife Units located in 38 of the 50 states.
