Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (WCATY)
The Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (WCATY) provides access to affordable programs and opportunities to the rural, urban and suburban communities of Wisconsin. WCATY is home to the Young Students Summer Program (YSSP) designed for young learners, and the Summer Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP) that gives students two weeks on a college campus studying one accelerated course. The Center also has an Accelerated Learning Program (ALP), which is an intense, three-week academic program that gives students the chance to take one high school or college-level course at an accelerated pace. WCATY also has district Co-ops that combine online instruction and face-to-face workshops for academically talented students from throughout a region or across a school district to learn together. The Center uses multiple outcome measures, student and faculty evaluations, parent input, and research-based practices to maintain an overriding focus on quality.
Outcomes
WCATY nurtures Wisconsin's most academically talented students by providing and encouraging programs that support, motivate, and challenge them. It is the only statewide resource serving Wisconsin's academically talented students on a year-round basis.
