Integrated Mosquito Management Website
The Integrated Mosquito Management website, developed through the Department of Entomology, is designed to help people make informed decisions on ways to prevent mosquitos. The site presents the scientific evidence about the effectiveness of mosquito traps, candles and lanterns, electronic devices, home remedies, and bug sprays. It includes information about natural biological interactions, including the effectiveness of bats and purple martins for mosquito control. You can also read the opinions of researchers on favorite prevention methods and submit your own remedies for testing.
Outcomes
Since 2006, the website has provided Wisconsin citizens with summaries of scientific assessments of mosquito management techniquies, including commercially available tools and home remedies. It is intended to help people determine what will work and what has not been successful when carefully tested in a controlled fashion.
