Sharing Science with Wisconsin
There are a myriad of science outreach activities and events occurring year-round, every day at UW-Madison, which are free and open to the public. The http://www.science.wisc.edu website gives all individuals throughout the state a single online website where they can learn about not only the science that’s taking place on campus, but about all of the outreach activities and public events they’re invited to attend. At the website, visitors can learn not only about science outreach activities and lessons, and the UW-Madison Science Alliance, but also about the science that’s going on, scientific publications, scientific careers and services, and the UW-Madison Science Constellation.
Outcomes
Science Expeditions 2010, an annual event held in April by the UW-Madison Science Alliance at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery on the UW-Madison campus, was attended by 2500-3000 people. The website gave the public extensive specific information about Science Expeditions, such as event and show schedules, parking locations, and campus busses/trolley routes, which enabled numerous attendees to learn specifics on how to attend the event. Additionally, Twitter was used to advertise the event, with links to the website.
