Telehealth Partnership with Marshfield Clinic
UW Clinical Professor Lyn Turkstra, along with the University of Wisconsin, continues to collaborate with Marshfield Clinic in its telehealth project. The project allows patients and health care providers to talk as if they are in the same room even though they may be hundreds of miles apart. The telehealth project assists those with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), which can make communication difficult as well as result in other difficulties such as depression, social isolation, and unemployment. In addition, the project will compare in-person versus video-based assessment of communication skills in adults with TBI.
Outcomes
The project results will contribute to the national literature and the ongoing implementation of telehealth at the Marshfield Clinic. In addition, because Marshfield Clinic has satellites around the state, telehealth directly benefits the citizens of Wisconsin and continues to bridge the gap between resources and remote-based populations health care needs.
