Communication Development in Children with Cerebral Palsy
Professor Katie Hustad’s research is focused on the study of changes in speech language, cognition and functional communication abilities among children with cerebral palsy (CP). Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2003.
Outcomes
Families benefit from participating in the study through the detailed information regarding their child’s communication development that they receive at every research visit. They can then use this information to ensure that their children are getting the services that they need. The results of Hustad’s research will lead to an understanding of different profiles of communication development among children with CP and the stability of these profiles over time. The overall goal is to maximize quality of life and social participation for children with CP.
