Collaboration with the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT)
The Language Institute and the Wisconsin Association for Language Teachers (WAFLT) provides Wisconsin language educators from all over the state with professional development opportunities and tools to advocate for language study. The collaborative has created podcasts of guest speakers like Dan Davidson, Celester Kinginger and more as part of its annual lecture series. The Institute and teachers from across the state will also make presentations at WAFLT conferences. In addition, through the collaborative’s Love Language project, the program will also provide online profiles of college-level and lifelong language learners spanning from languages such as Ancient Greek to Zulu in order to inspire K-12 language learners.
Outcomes
The Language Institute engages in various outreach activities in order to inspire interest in language learning and raise awareness among a broad audience of the diversity of the world’s languages and cultures. In conjunction with WALFT, LI connects Wisconsin high school teachers by organizing conferences and annual meetings throughout the state.
