Law School Summer Clerkship Hiring Initiative
The Wisconsin Hiring Initiative is the Law School's action plan to increase the number of students and recent graduates interested in practicing law in small- and medium-size Wisconsin communities. This project places law students in summer clerkship positions in small- and mid-size communities. Professor Gretchen Viney, of the Lawyering Skills Program at the law school, supervises the program. Participating law firms have agreed to pay the students at least $15/hour, and the Law School will provide grants of up to $1,000 per student to defray summer living expenses.
Outcomes
The program is competitive among law school applicants. This program encourages all students to look more broadly at career opportunities in rural areas.
