CARDS Community Advisors for Research Design and Strategies
The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing, the Lussier Community Education Center and the Goodman Community Center have been awarded a three-year grant to establish Project WINNERS (Wisconsin Network for New Employment and Research Support). WINNERS is an innovative statewide, community-based research support network and will provide health education and job training in communities experiencing health disparities while promoting health research.
Outcomes
The program provides feedback to researchers on the design of their research, the materials used to recruit participants and collect data. CARDS members come from historically underrepresented populations in Wisconsin, bringing the input of people who have not generally participated in research. Through CARDS input researchers are making their studies more accessible to people who have been underrepresented in research, ultimately making their research more relevant to the care of all populations.
