Wisconsin Regional Artist Program
The Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) provides statewide art workshops and exhibits for nonprofessional artists. It was begun in 1940 (by the nations first university artist-in-residence, John Steuart Curry) to encourage the creative growth of Wisconsin citizens. Activities include collaborating with the (600 members strong) Wisconsin Regional Artist Association (WRAA) to offer over 20 artist workshops/exhibits statewide, with an awards process that contributes to an annual statewide conference and exhibition. Each year WRAP hangs an exhibit showcasing the award-winning artists from WRAP programs throughout Wisconsin. About 200 artists from around the state display their art for about a month in August and September.
Outcomes
Expansion of arts appreciation, art education, and creation statewide for non-professional artists 14 and older.
