Women's Studies Consortium
The UW Board of Regents established the Women’s Studies Consortium in 1989 to support efforts to establish and maintain strong Women’s Studies Programs at the UW institutions and to bring the UW System national prominence as a leader in curricular transformations that included women, broadened diversity, and developed Women’s Studies as an interdisciplinary area. The consortium works to increase understanding of Women’s Studies and its interconnections with issues of race, ethnicity, age, class, ability, and sexual orientation and to promote increased diversity among students, faculty, staff, and administrators at its 14 participating UW institutions and beyond, creating a regional Women's and Gender Studies Learning community.
Outcomes
Promotes increased diversity among students, faculty, staff, and administrators at its 14 participating UW institutions and expands appreciation of the contributions of women in general through the creation of a regional Women's and Gender Studies Learning Community. To that end the WSC offers annual regional conference and periodic mini-conferences and workshops co-sponsored by all UW-System institutions, the Women & Science Program (UW-Oshkosh) and the Office of the Women's Studies Librarian, as well as many of Wisconsin's private colleges. Also supports program, curricular and pedagogical advancement in LGBTQ Studies systemwide. Also the Wisconsin Women Making History website launched in March 2015.
