Reach Out and Read Wisconsin
Started after a local demonstration program which was funded by the Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment, Reach Out and Read Wisconsin is the state-wide entity responsible for technical assistance, quality assurance, education and support for Reach Out and Read sites within Wisconsin. Reach Out and Read is an early literacy promotion program which leverages the relationship between clinicians and patients to encourage families to read together. Operationalized by giving a book to a child (and observing the child and family's responses) as a routine part of well-child visits from six months to five years of age, Reach Out and Read has broad scope and benefits. This project is supported by UW Health and Children's Health Alliance of Wisconsin.
