Science on a Sphere
In 2007, The Space Science and Engineering Center (SSEC) received a Baldwin grant purchase a 3D globe to create a intriguing view into the work done at SSEC. Content for the globe shows how weather satellites work, how they important and includes weather facts of other planets. A touch screen interface was created so the globe could be taken such places as Madison Children’s Museum, the UW Space Place, the Milwaukee Public Museum and the EAA Museum in Oshkosh. Each year SSEC hosts hundreds of visitors and provides them with a unique learning experience. SSEC continues The Wisconsin Idea as newly created content is contributed to NOAA’s Science on a Sphere library which is shown at museums and science centers worldwide.
