Wisconsin Express
This week long immersion program, held annually in May, brings health professions students from all majors into Wisconsin communities to explore the culture, healthcare resources and challenges in that region of the state. During the week, many of the program sites engage in service-learning activities and other forms of interaction with local organizations. Each of the 11 program sites includes a small group of students, hosted by a faculty member, to facilitate dialogue and reflection. The overall goal of Wisconsin Express, and all Wisconsin AHEC programs, is to introduce students to rural and underserved communities in Wisconsin and inspire them to return to these areas for their future practice as healthcare professionals.
