Community Health Internship Program (CHIP) - Wisconsin AHEC
Student interns are placed across the state for an eight week summer position in public health departments and local community organizations. In a typical summer, 70 interns are placed throughout the state, with an additional 35 in Milwaukee. This is a signature program of Wisconsin AHEC (Area Health Education Centers). The interns provide a valuable service to their host sites and gain excellent work experience. Extremely strong regional partnerships have been formed in the 20-year history of this program. The overall goal of AHEC is to introduce health professions students to rural and underserved communities in Wisconsin, and inspire them to return to those areas for their future practice as healthcare professionals.
