Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Memory Screenings
More than 110,000 people in Wisconsin have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. African Americans are approximately two times more likely than Caucasians to have the disease. Alzheimer’s disease is underreported in the African American community and, therefore, less likely to be diagnosed. The Wisconsin ADRC memory screenings are offered free throughout the year at traditionally African American churches and community centers. Faculty, testing staff and classified staff provide this service to the public.
Outcomes
This volunteer screening service is designed to serve the African American population in these communities.
