Bringing Healthy Aging to Scale
The population of older adults in Wisconsin is expected to nearly double in size over the next 25 years. This “graying” of society affects rural areas even more than urban. Two of the greatest public health issues affecting older adults are falls and chronic conditions. Falls are sustained by one-third of older adults each year and chronic conditions affect about 80% of older adults. Bringing Healthy Aging to Scale, a three-year study, seeks to increase the ability of rural counties to implement and sustain Stepping On and Living Well, two evidence-based programs aimed at preventing falls in older adults and improving quality of life. This project is funded by the Wisconsin Partnership Program.
