EMPOWER – Program for Depression in Adults with Intellectual Disability
Through partnerships built via the Waisman Center, Dr. Hartley connected with stakeholders who have identified a lack of psychosocial interventions for adults with mental disabilities in the greater Madison area. Dr. Hartley has worked closely with staff and participants from a partner organization, Community Ties, to identify target outcomes and variables of interest, bringing together theory and previous research with community context. The collaboration has produced new tangible material for psychosocial interventions in community settings and a manual to guide staff in these interventions. Participants have built new relationships and developed informal communities of support as a result.
