Medical student service projects AHEC/PCC
Many communities across the state of Wisconsin host third-year students from the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, for an 8-week rotation in the Primary Care Clerkship (PCC). During PCC, students are required to spend a half-day each week providing volunteer service in a non-clinical role, in a "Community Engagement Project." The projects are sponsored by a partnering host organization (such as a non-profit agency, public school, senior center, library, or community group) and arranged by Wisconsin AHEC (Area Health Education Centers) staff. Regional AHEC staff identifies community partners, collects information about their needs and goals, and matches medical students with local projects that benefit citizens and improve health.
