Bayfield-Ashland Counties EMT Awareness Project
The EMS Partnership, consisting of several area EMS services, Memorial Medical Center-Ashland and Northwest Wisconsin CEP, responded to a crisis of decreasing EMT recruitment by implementing a plan to improve recruitment, training and retention in the two-county region. They prepared marketing materials, including a recruitment video, and developed and administered a screening tool to determine potential recruits' compatibility for EMT training. Twenty-two new recruits entered EMT-Basic training. This project was made possible by a 2011-12 Rural Community Grant from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health.
