Exercising with Parkinson Disease
Physical therapists and fitness trainers from the Door County Medical Center and the local YMCA led classes for Parkinson's patients to maintain and/or improve their mobility and functional abilities. Training included treadmill work, floor exercises and strength training. Like many rural areas, Door County’s elderly population is large and increasing; programs like this target this population and address common health challenges. An average of 19 patients participated in two locations. This project was made possible by a 2011-12 Rural Community Grant from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health.
