ProActive Jackson County
Beginning in 2006, Jackson County community leaders came together to form the proACTIVE Wellness initiative, which spawned seven different wellness programs for area businesses. Employees for each business completed wellness surveys and Health Risk Assessments (HRA's), and kept a food journal in order to determine future areas of health improvement. Over a period of eight sessions, employees completed wellness seminars at their worksites on work time. These sessions included challenges and incentives that incorporated one-on-one coaching, weigh-ins and blood pressure checks. After five months, the initiative showed great success in enhancing access to health services and educating citizens on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
