ECHO - Early Childhood Hearing Outreach
The primary goal of the ECHO program is to provide quality hearing screenings for children ages 0-3 years, enrolled in Early Head Start programs in Dane and Green counties. A secondary goal is to provide education to Early Head Start staff and families on best practices for hearing screening and follow-up services. We have screened over 1,000 children since the start of this program in 2012. The hearing screenings are done at Head Start locations throughout the Madison area as well as in Monroe. We offer comprehensive audiology services at UW Speech and Hearing Clinic at significantly reduced costs for children who do not pass the screenings.
