Putting You to Work: Employment Writing Workshops Across Madison

To help address the problems of unemployment and underemployment in our community, the Madison Writing Assistance (MWA) program offered a two-year series of employment writing workshops at various libraries, community centers, and churches across Madison. Working closely with leaders of local nonprofit organizations, MWA instructors met regularly with community members to provide hands-on instruction in conducting a job search and completing an online application; composing an effective resume and cover letter; and preparing for a face-to-face, phone, or online interview. In keeping with MWA's mission, this project prioritized assisting underserved individuals as they worked toward securing new or improved employment.
