Mobile Fish Identification
A mobile fish identification app, developed by UW-Madison's Sea Grant Institute, not only allows fishers to find out what kind of fish they caught, but can also help to identify invasive species. The app contains pictures taken by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources biologist John Lyons of 174 different kinds of fish, each with a short write-up about the fish’s features. Being able to identify invasive species such as the sea lamprey can help anglers to report their findings to resource managers and ultimately improve the health of Wisconsin’s lakes and rivers.
