Climate Change Outreach
The Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) is working to use research happening at UW-Madison to inform the public about the impacts of climate change on the diversity and distribution of species in Wisconsin. WICCI provides workshops throughout the state on climate change and its members have presented lectures for individuals spanning from insurance executives to high-ranking state officials to middle school students. The initiative also helped to found the “Gikinoo’wizhiwe Onji Waaban” (Ojibwe for “Guiding for Tomorrow”) or “G-WOW” initiative, which helps to explain how culture intersects with climate change to the Ojibwe living near Lake Superior.
