Building Food Justice Capacity in South Madison
The project builds food justice capacity in South Madison by forging a network of entrepreneurship opportunities in the field of urban agriculture for formerly incarcerated citizens while improving healthy food access to the broader South Madison community. Administered through a series of service learning capstone courses, this project was initiated in the fall of 2013, and then received funding from the Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment in June 2015 for two years. By selecting two men from the Nehemiah's ManUp group, we will work with these men to be active in the South Madison's commercial urban agriculture, and become the future leaders of a more just South Madison food system.
