Kickapoo Valley tourism research
Bret Shaw, an associate professor in the Department of Life Sciences Communication, conducted research in the Kickapoo Valley. The research aimed at finding ways to increase tourism during the “shoulder” or less busy months. Shaw and his research team surveyed Kickapoo Valley visitors and compiled the information into a report. They found that visitors were looking for excitement, adventure and food-related events while visiting the Kickapoo Valley. The community implemented the reported findings into their marketing and events during off-season tourism.
