Wisconsin Act 31 educational site
Aaron Bird Bear and Simone Schweber received a grant from UW’s Ira and Ineva Reilly Baldwin Wisconsin Idea Endowment to support the teaching about Wisconsin’s Indian nations. Educators are required to teach the history, culture and tribal sovereignty of the American Indian nations of Wisconsin at least twice in elementary and once in high school, however, sometimes lack the appropriate resources to do so. The online hub WisconsinAct31.org, featuring resources and lesson plans, is a collaboration between the School of Education, Wisconsin Public Television, UW System, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin Media Lab, Wisconsin Historical Society and Wisconsin Indian Education Association.
