UniverCity Year
UW-Madison is partnering with the city of Monona for the first UniverCity Year. This initiative, led by Jason Vargo, an assistant scientist at the Nelson Institute and the Global Health Institute, will match city-defined needs with project-based learning in existing university courses. The partnership aims to assist cities with urban sustainability throughout Wisconsin. The students, with the aid of faculty, will work in teams to address issues such as housing, transportation, parks and broadband infrastructure within Monona. Courses focused in soil science, landscape architecture, business, urban and regional planning and more will have a role in the UniverCity Project. Both undergraduate and graduate UW students will be involved.
