Partnership with UW Eau Claire to prepare for increased Social Work course needs
UW-Madison is partnering with UW-Eau Claire to offer extended courses for the part-time Masters of Social Work program in order to meet the pending increased needs of the aging population. The new coursework will be offered beginning fall semester 2016. With the U.S. population of aging adults expected to double over the next 25 years, measures are being taken to accommodate this growing group of individuals. Social work within the field of aging and health is expected to grow with this population. Rural counties throughout the state are experiencing growing numbers of community members ages 65 and up, with some northern and western counties reaching 20 percent of the population 65 and older.
