The Quill literary journal
The Quill, a literary journal for middle school and high school students in Green Bay, was one of four projects selected by the Wisconsin Open Education Community Fellowship, which is a collaboration between the Morgridge Center for Public Service, the Division of Continuing Studies and UW-Madison’s Educational Innovation initiative. The inspiration for the Quill comes from Laura Schmitt, a UW student majoring in English and journalism. A Green Bay native, Schmitt created an outlet for young writers to be published. The summer-long project included online and printed submissions as well as a writing workshop with a UW faculty member. Writers were also given a chance to present their work at Artstreet, which is a festival in Green Bay.
