Do You Play Fair? Addressing Bias in K-12 Educational Settings
The overall goal of this project is to improve educational equity in K-12 schools. The specific objectives of this project are to: 1) Collaborate with administrators, teachers, staff and students to identify racial bias incidents “typical” in schools and to develop these into vignettes for inclusion in a new game about implicit bias in K-12 settings; 2) Work with Gear Learning game designers and programmers to create a K-12 version of Fair Play (Fair Play Today) that includes some of these bias events; 3) Pilot test Fair Play Today in school districts as part of a workshop about implicit bias and its effects in education. Ultimately, this game will be available for use by districts across the state of Wisconsin.
