Best. Friday. Ever. event series
At Allen Centennial Garden we believe gardeners, through their gardens, can save the world. Best. Friday. Ever. embraces the Wisconsin Idea and celebrates the power of public gardens to tell the stories of our natural and cultural commonwealth – in this case, the stories of UW-Madison and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Ultimately, we believe learning should be fun, and that everyone can better appreciate the value plants bring to our world. We invoke curiosity just enough to make someone want to visit again, and we’re ready when they return, with in-depth classes and workshops that feature UW experts and cutting-edge research.
Outcomes
Our main goal in this ongoing series is to raise awareness of plants within our community while introducing them to the Allen Centennial Garden as a campus and community resource. 26% of visitors to the Best. Friday. Ever. series were first-time visitors in 2018-19; 98% said they "engaged with plants in some way" and 88% said they left with a "greater awareness of plants in general."
