Just in Time Parenting In Brief: Shortening newsletters to infographics for parents
This project transforms multi-page, age-paced parenting newsletters into a single-page infographic series for parents in the “4th trimester” (the first three months of a child’s life). Through this project, we will develop and pilot three single-page parenting infographics that track with the first three months of life (Your 1-month-old, 2- month-old and 3-month-old). Each page might contain 12-16 individual images that pertain to the child’s current age. Infographics would use imagery and language inclusive of all families. These infographics will provide age-based child development information to parents while removing access barriers related to language and broadband internet.
Outcomes
This project is primary prevention for families. Ideally, these monthly infographics will be references parents share with other caregivers. Additionally, these infographics could be repeatedly referenced by parents for ongoing skill building. Practice and support that can protect children from harmful or neglectful parenting practices. Our objectives are: 1) Piloted, multi-lingual, parenting infographic series supporting caregivers in the first three months of life; 2) Broader delivery of parenting information to all new parents; and 3) Increased knowledge and skills among a pilot audience of parents.
