UniverCity Year - Adams County
Project Description: Adams County and UniverCity Year partnered from 2019-22. This partnership focused on economic development of the county, including tourism, housing developments, and opportunities for cooperatives. Education, with a focus on improving career opportunities, teacher retention, and sustainability education, was also an important focus. Finally, the partnership aimed to improve health by raising awareness for physical and mental health, implementing more health services with specific focuses and reducing adverse health impacts.
Outcomes
-UW-Madison seniors created preliminary designs for residential developments from a site assessment of a 30-plus acre parcel of land in Adams County -Three renovation plans were proposed for repurposing the Health and Human Services building, addressing the current issues that affect the building. The plans also provided incentives to developers by showing the economic potential of each option -In total, 38 projects were developed by 142 students, 26 project leads and 17 instructors
