The partnership between UniverCity Year and Brown County yielded nine projects from 82 students, six project leads, and eight instructors. A cost benefit analysis was performed on the pros and cons of removing blue-green algae from Brown County’s waterways. Also, an environmental impact report was developed to show the risks of the blue-green algae and to highlight potential engineering solutions for improving economic and environmental health. A related project produced a design for blue-green algae harvesting technology. A cost-benefit analysis of road maintenance options was created to find strategies to improve cost efficiency as well as improving landscape and minimizing risks to human and environmental health.
