Headlines and Highwater
In this choose-your-own-adventure style game, players take on the role of a journalist in the small town of Twin Lakes. When a major flood hits, the player must write news stories for every stage of the disaster. Players learn how to gather quotes, facts, photos, statistics, diagrams, and anecdotes. After each story, players receive a score based on the story's quality and see how their story affected people. They also learn about flooding, wetlands and other water science information. This game is being played in middle schools across the state of Wisconsin, benefiting the state by packing complex and important concepts about media literacy and science into an experiential learning product.
