French 595: Theory and Practice of French & Francophone Drama
Every other year, students enrolled in the French theatre course 595 produce a full-length play in French that is performed in one of the UW-Madison campus theatres. The general public and French students from high schools and colleges within a 100-mile radius are invited to these free performances.
Outcomes
Students are given an opportunity to see a live performance in a foreign language. The pedagogical materials that the class produces help audience members to make connections between France and the U.S., as well as between literature and contemporary culture. Wisconsin students get a chance to see the kind of work that is done at UW-Madison.
