Wisconsin Idea Seminar
Begun in 1985, the Wisconsin Idea Seminar is a five-day bus tour of the state held each May that immerses forty UW-Madison faculty and academic staff in the educational, industrial, social and political realities of Wisconsin. The seminar introduces and promotes the Wisconsin Idea. More than 650 faculty and academic staff have listened and learned from the citizens of Wisconsin and gained insights which are reflected in their teaching, research and public service. Over the years the seminar has visited every corner of the state. The seminar is supported by the Evjue Foundation, the schools and colleges and the Graduate School.
Outcomes
The faculty and staff participants come away with a better understanding of outreach and public service, see the university at work around the state, meet the people of Wisconsin, have a better understanding of their students' backgrounds and become part of a community within the university that crosses disciplinary lines.
