MEDiC Free Clinics
Established in 1990, MEDiC is a student-run program of the University of Wisconsin School of Madison and Public Health and is comprised of seven health clinics throughout Madison. MEDiC's goals are twofold: to improve the health of the underserved in the Madison area and to educate University of Wisconsin health professions students. Physicians volunteer their efforts to contribute to medical education and the health needs of Wisconsin's underserved communities, and the organization is primarily supported through private donations. Medical, physical therapy, dermatology and dental clinics are offered weekly or monthly for a total of 22 clinics every month.
Outcomes
More than 200 health professions students and over 100 volunteer doctors combine to serve over 1,000 patients each year by operating 22 free clinic sessions every month.
