Kemp Natural Resources Station
UW-Madison's Kemp Natural Resources Station is an off-campus research, teaching and outreach facility dedicated to environmental stewardship and the sustainable use of northern Wisconsin's natural resources. The station supports scientists from across the country in their pursuit of environmental knowledge. In addition, an extensive curriculum of field courses trains students to become tomorrow's natural resource professionals. And, a successful outreach series puts research to work, linking UW-Madison scientists with the residents of northern Wisconsin and beyond.
Outcomes
Kemp Station supports more than 40 research projects annually. Studies range from investigations into the evolutionary origins of land plants to natural resource stewardship and sustainable use. The station has developed a national and international reputation for innovative environmental and natural resources research. This research expands our knowledge of the world around us. Kemp Station's instructional programs complement campus-based teaching. The focus is on hands-on, experiential learning where principles and theory learned in the classroom come alive. Last, Kemp Station's outreach program puts research to work. Through a series of activities, researchers share their expertise with the public to facilitate informed decision making.
