The station is involved in a number of research and outreach projects. In 2009, for example, scientists evaluated whether fungicides improve plant health, even if soybean rust never reaches Wisconsin. Furthermore, Lancaster has become a new location for the UW winter wheat variety trials, and more than 50 varieties were tested in 2009. The station has also conducted research on alfalfa management, the effectiveness of different pastures (for example, standing corn and sorghum-sudangrass), and continues to experiment with cow and calf herd genetics. Additionally, the station hosts a number of educational Field Days throughout the year.
