L.R. Ingersoll Physics Museum
The L.R. Ingersoll Museum is a free, public, hands-on physics museum located on the UW-Madison campus. Museum exhibits primarily focus on demonstrating basic physical concepts ranging from mechanics to modern physics. The museum was started by Professors Snow and Ingersoll in 1917, and was one of the first such museums in this country. Over the years, exhibits designed by faculty and built in the departmental shops have been progressively added.
Outcomes
Many K-12 school groups visit the museum, and guided tours are available with prior arrangement. The number of weekly visitors can exceed several hundreds.
